Finance state minister for privatization and investment Evelyn Anite has challenged millions of Uganda’s unemployed youth to “hunt for jobs instead of waiting on connections.” 

“Most of the graduates become too lazy to hunt for jobs because they want to be connected, my advice to you is to go out into the world and look for a job or create one,” she told guests while officiating at Ibanda University’s seventh graduation ceremony. 

She added that: “I did not use connection to get a job, move away from the culture that to get a job you have to be connected.” 

The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), in partnership with USAID’s Feed the Future Uganda Institutional and Systems Strengthening Activity (ISSA) and telco MTN Uganda. has today (September 15) launched www.mybusiness.go.ug a platform dedicated to boosting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Hon Anite made the commitment on Friday, while officially handing over an investment license to the Kajjansi-based Bar Aviation.

The aviation company officials during the event, complained about the sorry state of the airfield to the Minister.

State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, Evelyn Anite has today inspected the progress of £214m Infrastructure development project at Namanve industrial park that is expected to foster the development of 500 factories and create over 250,000 jobs at its completion.

Lagan Dott, the company contracted to develop key enabling infrastructure including roads, drainage systems and fibre optics in the Kampala Industrial and Business Park also known as Namanve industrial park has said it is committed to complete works in time.

On Tuesday, the state minister for Privatization and Investment, Evelyn Anite inspected the ongoing works in the industrial park.

Speaking during the inspection, Anite said whereas the works are still behind schedule, she is optimistic the contractor will finish in time.
